The Ultimate Guide to Getting Blessings!

(5 min read)
Today is the 8th day of the Lunar New Year. What is special about today?
The Chinese who belong to the Hokkien dialect group will be busy tonight getting ready to make offerings to the Jade Emperor. Why so?
It was believed that the Hokkien people were fleeing from the Mongolian army in the Song Dynasty and they hid in the sugar plantation. When it was safe to leave the sugar plantation, it was already the ninth day of the lunar new year. The Hokkien people then felt that they were protected by the heavens and wanted to give thanks. Since then, they have continued to give offerings to the Jade Emperor by dedicating the 9th day sacred for thanksgiving.
Today is the eighth day but when the clock strikes 12 midnight, this family in the video here will be the first few in line to show their gratitude and thanksgiving.
May the Jade Emperor continue to shower the Hokkien people with blessings now and forever.
