FOMO
Yesterday
I took a break from blogging because I was too tired and had zero inspiration.
Today, I started thinking a lot and suddenly this acronym popped into my head. FOMO is it.
These
days with short messaging and texting all the rage, we get tired of using our
fingers and typing out the actual words. So we shorten our words, use short
form, use emojis and acronyms like FOMO.
What does FOMO stand for?
In one definition it just stands for Fear Of Missing Out. Fear
of missing out stems from a scarcity mindset. Then a herd mentality ensues and
then safety is felt and assured.
There
are many instances of people who have this FOMO mentality and the join the
herd. And do you know what happens to the herd? Either the herd gets
slaughtered or nothing really happens.
When
I think of FOMO, I think about the many Chinese astrologers who rush to launch
their annual astrological predictions for the 12 Chinese zodiac animals and
hope to get a bigger slice of their target market.
Then
they label themselves as Master XYZ and dress in Chinese traditional garb to suit
the occasion. Well if you can’t beat them, join them. The packaging has to be at least right for a start. On one side,
these marketers have the FOMO mindset and ultimately they attract the FOMO type
of followers and the FOMO type of customers. The law of attraction would work
this way, I believe.
Then, these astrology masters parade on their YouTube channels and rave about each of the twelve zodiac animals for their FOMO audience. If a certain zodiac animal has a poor prediction in terms of wealth, health or anything else, it will definitely trigger the nervy emotions of the poor listener. This is because he realised that his year of birth happens to be that zodiac animal with the poor prediction. By now, all hell would have broken loose in his mind and the FOMO energy or qi gets aggravated.
A possible solution would be to seek out the
expertise of that astrology master and get his prized advice of how to prevent
himself from getting all the poor predictions and all the bad luck for the
year.
The
use of FOMO is advantageous as a marketing gimmick when these astrology masters
use it to tout their expertise.
I
have an issue with these so called astrology masters who just use the Chinese
zodiac animal and pitch it at the year pillar of the Bazi or natal chart of a
person.
Take
for example in the Year of the Ox, 2021: the Rabbit is the only animal which
has no good stars. So, does it mean that all those born in the year of the Rabbit
will see the same fate for the year? The answer is NO. By looking at your year of
birth and trying to understand your luck for the year requires you to look at
your 4 pillars of your Bazi chart.
Not
just the year of birth (year pillar) and No FOMO please.
I
believe you have learnt something from this blog today about FOMO and year of
birth.
Stay
tuned for more coming in my next blog!
