"Be Water, My Friend"

Be Water, My Friend (3 min read)

Recently I was watching some short videos about Chinese martial arts and about Ip Man and Bruce Lee. Then, I stumbled upon an interview of Shannon Lee, Bruce Lee's daughter.

It is fantastic to be reminded of the legend Bruce Lee again after so much years of his passing. His daughter, Shannon Lee, recently launched a book with the above title of my blog for today. In one interview with the Centre for Asian American Media, Shannon Lee said that over time the folks who saw and understood the wisdom of Bruce Lee got healed and became very inspired people.

The late Bruce Lee was a Yang Wood Day Master. If you imagine how a tree looks like, you will know that the word, immalleable would describe it well. Surprisingly he had more of Water traits rather than Wood. If you have watched his videos before, you would have seen how he moved when he was in the movies or when he was in kung-fu mode. Though he died young, he managed to leave us a legacy together with a brethren, minions, followers and fans alike.

Today I will share about the element, Yin water. In Bazi, water is an essential element in a natal chart. Why it this so? This is because water represents intelligence and also wisdom. A natal chart that is bereft of water can tell us that the person has low intelligence.  Moreover, that would also be missing in wisdom.

How about a natal chart that has excessive water? Well,  that can mean that the person has the tendency to over think. What can do you think when a person over-thinks?

To me, there is a likelihood of being affected by thoughts and depression can sink in. Mental issues with being overly emotional can take place too.

In my previous sharing about #lockdown, I wrote about the need to control within and not let the exterior control us.  This applies to people with excessive water in their natal chart.

Just last night, I was speaking to a young friend of mine whose bazi I saw before. Her Day Master is that of Gui,  or Yin Water. She told me that she could not sit still and loved to be on the move. I remember telling her to learn to control her thoughts and not let them consume her. Awareness was key and that was what and why I told her so if she wanted to best use her given energy.

What are the traits of people with the Day Master Gui or have Gui in their Bazi?

  • They cannot sit still. (Admin jobs will kill them.)
  • They are unpredictable. (Get ready to face their changing moods.)
  • They have good imagination and think out of the box. (Creativity is their game always.)
  • They get too anxious if they think too much. (Getting into the void is key.)
  • They like to be on the track less travelled. (Ok, get ready to get them pave a new road.)
  • They can speak pretty well. (Eloquence is a trait to be honed better.)
  • They can be idealistic. (Idealism can let them lose themselves. Stick on the idea of idealistic and all will be right.)

To continue the story of my young friend, she also told me that she just completed her internship which she loved.  She earned the respect of her internship colleagues and was offered the opportunity to continue with them.

I was really happy( am still happy) to hear of her successful milestone of her internship and even happier to learn that she was able to decide what she could do next time. That internship journey opened up her eyes to what careers she would like to go into and boosted her belief that attitude mattered so much more the boring grades. OK, I added "boring" to grades.

If you are a student and you are reading this blog, the above is a story of discovery of a young student who discovered what she would want to do in the near future and believed that having a good and open attitude is key.

I dedicate this blog to my young friend with good wishes of many fulfilling milestones ahead.
