Death & Emptiness 空亡 (2 min read)
“But the longer I’ve lived, the more I’ve lost what’s inside me—and ended up empty.” by Haruki Murakami
Haruki Murakami さん and I share a common link of Waseda University and I feel privileged to be able to use one of his quotes here. His quote which I have listed above speaks very much about Death and Emptiness in Bazi. Every living person would have Death & Emptiness (DE) in his or her chart. It is a matter of when and how.
In traditional Bazi reading when one saw DE in his or her Bazi chart, one gets the attention of the other. It is strange but really common to see that we humans are programmed to always see the negative first. Then mayhem breaks loose in the mind. (the mind actually does not exist.)
The "OMG!" or "Oh no!" expressions get flashed in the mind. The 2 words of DE or 空亡 freaks the person out. I can only blame the first users of Chinese metaphysics or Bazi and their limited Chinese vocabulary to just choose 空亡 . In English, it becomes worse with death which is definite and eventual. Moreover the emptiness sets in and lingers on. What more can one do when they see DE?
In modern times, the answer to DE is "to chill".
