The Firing Squad (2 min read)
The internet is an interesting space. It is even more so when you have all those applications (app) that you have to use on a daily basis for all your needs on web or on mobile.
In 2019, we saw the share price of Zoom sky rocket with most places on lockdowns. These few days, Zoom got its fare share of publicity with a certain CEO hitting head lines when he used Zoom as the firing squad.
I happened to see a video on what that CEO said to all the invited staff. To me I found it to be extremely brutal just like a firing squad. Even firing has gone on Zoom these days and employees are akin to apps which get downloaded and offloaded in this era.
As the CEO of the company, he could have thought of an appropriate way to convey the news of "dismissal." As a result of his words and actions, he has gained his fair share of criticism in return and has somewhat "gone into remission".
I looked at his face using Chinese face reading and here goes my views.
- has high ambition (well, he is CEO afterall)
- is able of being merciless (well, he fired en masse 900 folks on zoom)
- is capable of drama (well, he said he cried the first time he fired staff)
- is particular with $$$ (well, he quoted that staff were "stealing" from the company)
- has much ego (As a CEO, better protect himself from the viral embarrassment and thus the need to "take time off")
The word "better" seems to fit what the CEO has done. What about "better not" in consideration in the first place?
I really wish those folks who were fired will find greener pastures and move on from this regrettable and unpleasant episode. I wish them all of them good energy and best vibes. (not better anymore)
