RIP, Coco Lee
This week, the Chinese entertainment world was suddenly hit by the news of the passing of superstar Coco Lee. She achieved several firsts in areas that an Asian or Chinese never ventured and will be remembered by many for her achievements.
Many are still in shock about the news of her passing as they could not believe that the Sunshine Coco could have taken her own life as reported by the media. The question is: Why would such a sunshine Coco end her own life? She seemed happy and had almost everything that one could have. Even in her last recording, she identified herself as a warrior who was determined to overcome her challenges though unbearable. Her body was in pain from her leg surgery as she filmed herself trying to walk again. She also shared her thoughts with her fans about heading on fearlessly.
Many would have thought that her last message would not be the last as she seemed very positive but could that be a lasting impression that she wanted to leave for her fans? It made me ponder if she was also trying to hide her despair and forlorn endeavours with life.
Looking at Coco Lee, I learnt that she has many traits of a "fire" face which also matches her behaviour in many ways. The "fire" exterior she always projected was about being happy, cheerful, colorful and sunshine that was all yang. Could what she exhibited also meant that she had an interior which was very yin? "Fire" face people are mostly reckless in their actions in that they are the "just do it" people.
In that spilt second decison to take her own life, it was just a very thin line away. If she had somebody close with her that night accompanying her, she would have not died. If she had a close confidante who could depend on to talk about her pain, she would not have died. Sometimes, we may think that family is close but how close?
Depression is a silent killer that is invisible and sudden. It will be very prevalent as we move into period 9.
