Red is the new Black
As I ponder over the topics for this coming lunar new year, I thought to myself, "Why not the colour red?"
Each time I put on anything red, people would ask if I was still celebrating the lunar new year which I totally ignore. What is the curiosity about wearing red? To me, this colour is very appropriate on most skin (humans I mean)
The lunar new year will soon knock on the doors of the few billions who celebrate this festival and we are not too surprised to see seas of red everywhere. Legend has it that it chased away the "Nian" beast which used to be a feared creature in ancient China. Thus it becomes "guo nian" which means to pass the beast and now to mean to pass the year.
Red is quite a pleasing colour to look at especially in food like red shrimps, red lobster, red meat, red vegetables, red dates, red coloured soda drinks and many more. Can you imagine using black as an auspicious colour? Moreover with Period 9 officially here, it will be difficult to avoid red altogether.
A lot of fengshui masters (to me quack ones) even go to the extent to get their clients to wear certain colours for the lunar new year or the entire year. Seriously does it help? I beg to differ on this kind of fake advice for people. How can wearing a certain colour help people to become better if one's natal chart has some clashes in the lunar new year?
I am a person who believe in changing one's mindset and I have done so in my capacity.
I wear red on the first day of the lunar new year as a way to show respect for tradition and my elders at home. I also treasure the present harmony and happiness which my elders at home believe about the lunar new year and ultimately getting the red packet which makes me more blissful every time.
I wish everyone a happy lunar new year:
新年大吉, 身体健康, 心想事成, 万事如意, 财源广进, 恭喜发财!
